Birthday Celebrations

On Sunday I turned 20!! And what other way can a food blogger celebrate than with lots and lots of delicious food and cocktails with all my favourite people?! And when it falls on a bank holiday weekend too, it’s only going to involve even more drinking, eating and partying! Here’s what I got up to whilst celebrating my birthday this year…

Birthday Cupcakes from The Cakeaway Shop

I started the celebrations off early on Thursday with a lovely birthday surprise from Ahmed of twelve Vanilla and Peanut Butter Cupcakes from Leicester-based cake business The Cakeaway Shop! They were absolutely delicious…light, moist and moreish! The frosting on both was so creamy, and the peanut butter frosting worked really well.

New Inn

On Saturday evening, my family came up to celebrate my birthday a day early with me. Last year on my birthday we went to the New Inn in Harborne and all four of us loved it so much that we decided to go back again this year too. The meal and cocktails were fantastic, and you can read my full review of our meal here.

Birthday Cake made by Kesh’s Coffee Cup

My family also surprised me on Saturday with this fabulous birthday cake made by the lovely Keshia and Hema from Kesh’s Coffee Cup! They got me my favourite type of cake too – carrot cake – which was light and delicious.

Brunch at Ju Ju’s Cafe

My Mum stayed over on Saturday night, and after opening my presents on Sunday morning we went to my favourite place for brunch – Ju Ju’s Cafe. I had the Breakfast Sandwich again – Sausage, Bacon and Fried Eggs in a Brioche Bun drizzled with Hollandaise Sauce. As always it was delicious and the perfect way to start my birthday! You can read a full review of the brunch at Ju Ju’s Cafe from our previous visit here.

Revs

It’s pretty obvious now that one of my favourite places to go, whether I’m in Birmingham or Loughborough, is Revs. So on my birthday night I headed here with my housemates, uni friends and friends from home for a night of food, cocktails, dancing…and more cocktails! Revs launched their new food menu a few weeks ago and I tried their tasty new Fennel Sausage, Charred Apple, Crispy Sage and Mozzarella Pizza off it. We then stayed here for the rest of the night drinking lots and lots of their fab cocktails, and I had the best night celebrating my birthday with the girls!!

Raja Monkey Cafe

Discovering that mine and Polly’s birthdays were just a day apart meant only one thing…a brilliant excuse to go out for food to celebrate! We decided to try somewhere new and went to Raja Monkey Cafe in Hall Green after hearing so many great things about the food here. And we weren’t disappointed – the food was delicious!
