Day in London

Yesterday me and my Mum went down to London for the day and had the best time sightseeing, eating street food and drinking cocktails! After an early start (for a Saturday at least!), we grabbed a Starbucks at the station ready for the journey down to the capital.

Our first stop took us to KERB Southbank Centre where we had some seriously amazing street food! You can read my full review here.

The weather stayed sunny all day for us, and we took full advantage of the sunshine to walk along Embankment and do some sightseeing. I think this may be my new favourite spot in London! There was so much going on but it wasn’t as crazy busy as the likes of Oxford Street, there were street food traders dotted all along the road, and I loved just looking out over the Thames with the sun beating down on us.

We couldn’t face the ridiculously long queue for the London Eye, but it’s definitely on my list to do next time I’m there…although I’m not sure I have the patience for how slow it moves!

We battled our way through the crowds and across the city to stop off at Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Soho. In desperate need of a drink and shelter from the hot weather, we stumbled across a little cocktail bar on Wardour Street called The O Bar and ordered a pitcher of pimms to share! Pimms and summer go hand in hand, so it was the perfect pitstop!

Me and my Mum can’t spend a weekend together without going for cocktails, and our trip to London was no exception! We stopped off at Lab in Soho and had some fab cocktails! Although it took us quite a while to choose (there’s over 100 on the menu!!), we both luckily made great choices with the fruity and delicious Solero and Craize for Fraize cocktails.

Before we headed back to the station, we met up with some friends and headed to the nearest Wetherspoons to catch up over a few bottles of wine.

We were more than ready to get on the train and head back to Birmingham by the time we reached Euston after what had been a long and busy day in London. And luckily we’d picked up a slice of Carrot Cake each from The Hummingbird Bakery for the journey, which as always was amazing!

And that concludes what was a fantastic day in London with my Mum! I’m excited to be heading back down again next weekend with Polly to visit Street Feast at Dalston Yard and attend a Vietnamese Cookery Class!
