Product Review: Funkin Pina Colada Cocktail Kit

A few months ago I was lucky enough to win a competition with Malibu to receive a Funkin Pina Colada Kit! A pretty good competition for me to win seeing as I love pina coladas…

Funkin make cocktail mixers, purees, syrups and bar equipment. The idea is that people can make great cocktails at home using their products. Onto the Pina Colada kit itself which contained four 50ml bottles of Malibu, four Funkin Pina Colada pouches and a mini cocktail shaker. I was definitely happily surprised to find that I’d been sent enough to make 4 pina coladas!

Although the instructions were minimal, it didn’t matter as the process was so easy and straightforward – add crushed ice, Malibu and the pina colada mixer to the mini shaker, shake it, and serve!

We also added a few tbsp of double cream to the mix too to make it even creamier, and the result was a delicious pina colada that really exceeded my expectations.

They also do mixers for a Mojito, Strawberry Daquiri, Cosmopolitan, Strawberry Woo Woo, Margarita, Peach Bellini, Espresso Martini and Bramble – so plenty of choice! They’re available to buy on their website in 8 single serve pouches for £8, or as a 750ml carton for £2.99.

The kit was simple and easy to use, and it actually produced a great tasting cocktail. Although it could never beat being made a cocktail by a professional bartender and everything that comes with visiting a fabulous cocktail bar, I’ll definitely buy some more  of Funkin’s cocktail mixers as it made for a really fun and cheap night of cocktail making at home!

Disclosure: I won the Funkin Pina Colada Cocktail Kit in Malibu’s Best Summer Ever Competition. But as always all opinions expressed are honest and my own, and I was not required to write a review.
